    Procedures

    1. Joining Threads
      1. Joining threads can be done In Character or Out of Character. See the joining page for more information. Do note that in character joining is the standard, and not all packs allow out of character joining.
      2. Individual packs may have specific requirements for incoming joiners. For example, a pack might only accept characters that are 50% or more wolf.

    2. Additional Characters
      1. 'Souls allows two characters per player by default, however, you must have had your first character on 'Souls for a minimum of 1.5 months (6 weeks) AND have made at least 45 In Character posts before introducing a second character. Returning members should start counting from the time of their most recent joining date.
      2. Permission must be obtained from the 'Souls Assemblage for each additional character you wish to play after the second. We do not have a limit on how many characters you are allowed to play, but do keep in mind that you are expected to maintain good activity with all of your characters and that every time you request an additional character, you are evaluated based on your overall activity with all of your characters.
      3. Players must wait four weeks between requests for all additional character requests after the second. For example, a player requesting a third character must wait until four weeks after they've picked up their second character to do so. If approved, they must wait another four weeks before requesting a fourth character.
      4. Please note that if you are currently approved for multiple characters, you may not drop one character and then pick up a new one without renewed permission. Dropping an auxiliary character will be considered quitting as that character, and you will need permission again from the 'Souls Assemblage. There is also a 2-week wait period between the dropping of one character and asking permission to pick up of a new character. This is also to discourage rampant switching of characters.
      5.   Additionally, multiple characters with the same player cannot be played in the same pack except when both requirements are met:
        1. At least one of the characters is directly related (mother/father/child/sibling) to another active member of the pack.
        2. The leader's permission is obtained.
Those seeking exceptions to the first condition can appeal to the SA, but under no circumstances may a player have more than two characters per pack/clan.
      6. The number one reason for the denial of an additional character request is activity, especially if the player already has multiple characters. A guideline for activity between multiple characters can be described with a simple ratio of 3:2 between the primary and all additional characters. If a player has three characters, the ratio between their primary, second, and third characters should be around 3:2:2. So for example, if that player has about 20 posts over a period of time with their primary character, their other two characters should both have around 15. Naturally, more activity than that is even better!
      7. Players approved for an additional character must pick up the new character within two weeks of approval. Delaying longer will require re-evaluation of activity and re-approval.

    3. Mates
      1. Mates must be in the same pack (or are two loners).
      2. Only canines at least one year of age may have mates.
      3. Mates may be challenged for, but it is ultimately up to the characters involved to choose.
      4. Mates may be of the same or different genders.
    4.
    5. Puppies
      1. Each player at 'Souls is allotted three puppies to be born each year. You may split them up between characters or combine your alloted puppies with those of the other parent of the puppies. A couple can have a maximum of six puppies.
      2. You must have Out of Character permission to breed from the SA, even if the situation In Character is non-consensual. Your characters may conceive at any time and final approval is to be sought 2-3 weeks before birth. If approval is not granted, the litter will be miscarried.
      3. Puppies may be born to unmated pairs within a pack or between wolves of two different packs. Interpack breeding is rarer and an interpack litter may not be approved as readily as an intrapack breeding.
      4. Parents must adhere to the following provisions in order to be approved for a litter:
        • BOTH parents are at least fifteen months of age.
        • At least ONE parent must:
          1. Have been a character on 'Souls for at least six consecutive months at the time of request.
          2. Currently be active.
      5. Only the parent(s) that fits the latter two requirements may contribute their puppy allotments to the litter. For example, parent A fits those requirements but parent B does not. Parent A can contribute their three puppies to the litter, but parent B cannot contribute anything. The maximum number of puppies in the litter for AxB is three.
      6. For same-sex couples seeking to use a surrogate, it's the couple that should fit the activity and membership requirements, not the surrogate, though the surrogate must still be at least fifteen months of age.
      7. Puppies become playable two months after birth.
    6.
    7. Tresspassing
      1. For an unaccompanied non-member to trespass deep into packlands or to spend a significant amount of time in or around its borders without discovery is considered a form of powerplay as it prevents members from intercepting the non-member as would realistically be the case.
      2. Non-members are free to have private, planned threads on packlands as long as they involve at least ONE packmember. However, for characters that have previously caused IC disputes within a specific pack and are explicitly unwelcomed, it would be courteous to inform the pack's leader(s) beforehand to prevent unwanted IC conflicts.
      3. Non-members seeking unplanned threads on packlands MUST mark their thread as "all welcomed."
      4. Non-members are not allowed to have private threads with other non-members on foreign packlands.

      5. ** Exceptions to #1 and #4 can be sought by obtaining OOC permission from a leader of the pack prior to the trespass and the encounter should be pre-planned.

    8. NPCs
      1. Characters are only allowed one canine NPC companion each. For example, a character wanting to join with an NPC pup is only allowed one pup. A character may also come in with an NPC mate or friend or sibling, but just one. Unlimited non-canine NPCs are allowed within reason.
      2. Characters joining without an NPC may obtain one later, but the one-per-character rule still applies unless the NPC(s) are a litter of puppies born into 'Souls via Section 4.4. Puppies cannot be born into 'Souls without SA permission.
      3. Permission from the 'Souls Assemblage may be sought for plots involving a larger number of NPCs, though these NPCs must be temporary (as opposed to "companions").
      4. If they are about to go on an extended absence, or if they need to temporarily focus on a smaller number of characters, players are allowed to temporarily drop a character while designating them an NPC. This option is only available for pack characters and needs to be worked out and approved by the character's pack leader. When a previously played character becomes an NPC, they are not attached to another character and cannot actually be played. The NPC status is for the sole benefit of keeping the character "on packlands" while the player takes a break.
        • People who have multiple characters and dropped/NPC'd ALL of them should pick up one of them immediately upon return and then wait two weeks to be re-evaluated for each subsequent characters. For example, a player has four characters. All of them were NPC'd. They come back with one. Two weeks later, they can be evaluated for the second. Two weeks after that, they can be evaluated for the third, etc. If one of these evaluations don't pass, they have to wait another two weeks before asking again. Players can either wait the two weeks and request an evaluation, OR wait 1.5 months, make 45+ posts and pick up their second character without an evaluation.
